What If Your Favorite Place Became Your Favorite Photograph?
I love my white studio. I love the simplicity of it, the clean backgrounds, and how nothing takes away from the people in the photographs.
But sometimes you want something a little different.
Something that looks nothing like anyone else’s pictures because it’s a story that belongs only to your family.
Recently, I photographed a family with two little girls on their family farm. We spent time down by the creek and also took photographs in front of their church.
These weren’t just pretty locations we happened to find. They were places that meant something to this family.
And that’s what made the photographs special.

What if we did something different?
Think about the places that have been part of your family’s life.
Maybe it’s the farm that’s been in your family for generations. Your grandparents’ front porch. The creek where your children spend their summers. Or the church where your family has worshipped for years.
Maybe it’s not even a particular place. Maybe it’s something your family loves doing together.
Fishing with Dad. Picking blueberries with Grandma. Feeding the cows. Making biscuits in the kitchen.

Your pictures don’t have to look like everyone else’s.
We see so many beautiful photographs these days. And while there’s certainly nothing wrong with a traditional portrait session, I think there’s room for something a little more personal, too.
A session that doesn’t require the perfect location, matching outfits, or everyone looking at the camera at the same time.
We can still get those beautiful portraits of everyone together. But we can also photograph the little things happening in between.
The things that make your family yours.
Think about 20 years from now.
Those two little girls I photographed will be grown.
And I hope when they look at these photographs, they’ll remember playing down by the creek. They’ll remember the farm and the church that were part of their childhood.
Maybe they’ll even share those pictures with their own children one day.
Because sometimes a photograph becomes more meaningful with every passing year.
Not because it was perfectly posed or taken in a beautiful location.
But because of everything it reminds us of.
So, here’s my question.
What if your favorite place became your favorite photograph?
What if we planned a session around something your family loves, somewhere that means something to you?
