I didn’t know what to expect as I drove to Pottersville, Mississippi.
I had never even heard of it before, I just knew it was a little north of Meridian, MS. Back roads, quiet stretches, the kind of drive that gives you time to slow down and wonder what the afternoon might hold.
When I pulled into the driveway, I hadn’t even grabbed my camera yet and the story was already unfolding. MW was swinging with her chicken like it was completely normal. Millie was nearby blowing bubbles, fully in her own world. No one was posing. No one was waiting on me. Life was already happening.

That’s exactly what Homegrown Story sessions are about.

We started outside on the swing set with the chickens and bunnies. Laughing, swinging, wandering around, nothing forced, nothing rushed. Just kids being kids and parents letting the moment unfold.

From there, we made our way down to the pond. We wandered, explored, stopped when something caught their attention. These are always my favorite moments, the in-between ones you can’t plan but never want to forget.

After a bit, we headed inside. MC played some music, filling the house with sound and making the space feel even more like home. These are the details that matter, the ones that tell your family’s story better than anything staged ever could.

A quick outfit change and we were back outside again. Chicken chasing, wandering, and more of the everyday moments that don’t feel like much now, but will someday mean everything. One day the swings will stand still, the chickens won’t get caught and the bubbles won’t float through the air anymore, but these moments will still matter.

So what are Homegrown Story sessions?
They’re relaxed and unposed. They’re centered around real life at home. They focus on connection, not perfection.

They are slow and intentional. They leave room for kids to be kids. They allow space for quiet moments and loud ones.
Homegrown Story sessions are for families who want to remember the ordinary days.
The days that feel repetitive. The days that pass too quickly. The days you’ll wish you could step back into.

As an in-home family photographer serving Meridian, MS and surrounding areas, this kind of work is close to my heart. These sessions aren’t about creating something impressive, they’re about preserving what already matters.
If you’ve been thinking about documenting your family just as you are, in your space, in this season, I’d love to hear from you.

Homegrown Story sessions are limited with only a handful of weekends available throughout the year.

P.S. We’ll absolutely get one photo with everyone looking at the camera and smiling — because that matters too.
