When someone chooses you as their photographer, it’s always an honor. But when someone chooses you over dozens of other options — and drives six hours round-trip for a 20-minute heirloom session — it leaves you speechless in the very best way.

That’s exactly what happened recently when a beautiful mama and her little girl made the journey all the way from Cleveland, Mississippi to Decatur, Mississippi just for one of our heirloom portrait sessions. Let me say that again: six hours in the car with a one year old for a twenty-minute session.

I’m still in awe.

With so many talented photographers much closer to home, the fact that this mama picked me… well, that’s something I’ll never take lightly. It’s not just about the distance — it’s the trust. The trust they placed in me to capture this special moment in her child’s life, the trust that it would be worth the drive, the trust that these portraits would be cherished for years and generations to come.

Heirloom sessions are short, sweet, and timeless — but they are packed with purpose. Every expression, every detail, every little pose is designed to reflect childhood and create artwork that stands the test of time.
